The Story of Support Incorporated

Support, Inc. started in a home office in 2001. After several years of serving individuals with mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability needs, we narrowed our scope to better serve the specialty population of children and adolescents.

Specializing in children and adolescents with mental health and substance use needs allowed us to recruit staff with a passion and expertise for this targeted population, as well as strengthen our use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) and focused training.

We employed several key strategies to become a trusted leader of behavioral health services in the communities we serve, including:

  • Visible dedication to seeing our clients succeed
  • Flexibility in an ever-changing system
  • Responsiveness to systemic gaps and unmet community needs
  • Committed partnerships with health and human service organizations with a vested interest in increasing health equity among underserved populations

We provide a wide array of services with the clinical expertise of over 60 licensed clinicians, 5 physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. We proudly provide quick and easy access to the highest-quality EBPs that address complex and interconnected mental health, physical health and social needs. Throughout service delivery, we routinely administer cost-effective solutions to prevent hospitalizations and transitions to higher levels of care.

Philosophy of Clinical Services

Our strength is our passion for serving people.

Support, Inc.’s clinical model stems from cognitive behavioral practices and ecosystemic principles. Working from a combined developmental and systemic model allows clinicians to incorporate a variety of interventions throughout treatment. Clinical staff use a blend of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused and reality therapy techniques to help individuals achieve more effective control and fulfillment within their lives. Both verbal interventions and corrective experiences are used to help individuals reach their goals.

Support, Inc. views children (ages 3 to 18) as embedded within numerous systems that play an integral role with social and emotional development. Each child is unique and influenced by the various systems within their lives, particularly family and school. In order to fully understand a child’s functioning and needs, the individual and the various systems within his or her life should be assessed. The development and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions from a developmental and systemic model, as well as empowering children from a personcentered stance, is at the crux of Support, Inc.’s philosophy.

Support Inc.’s clinical staff work also equally well with adults by employing a variety of cognitive behavioral and person-centered interventions. Empowering individuals and working on strategies to enhance one’s day-to-day functioning and emotional well-being is a central aspect to treatment. By helping individuals become more aware of the interconnectedness among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, real change can begin. Through actively challenging and replacing negative thoughts, individuals can achieve greater independence and fulfillment within their lives.
